girl v. a taster of tokyo

Tokyo is an assault on the mind and the senses. A neon filled rocket ready to pop. Sky scrapers that touch the heavens and fetishes on every corner. It is the epitome of past meets present with temples standing next to sky scrapers, and traditional taverns next to maid cafes.

One of the strangest things is the language barrier. Everywhere I have travelled I have never struggled so much with being understood then here in Japan. A combination of not knowing English and being too shy to use the English they do know means that a lot of the time you feel immediately cut off from the world around you. Which I have to admit, can be delightfully refreshing. But sometimes, and quite quickly, your world can get a bit lonely. But a walk away from the electric town and the commuter squash and some time in a park with fresh air, greenery, temples and tranquility can even bring this crazy girl back to her senses.

  1. Tokyo looks fantastic - how lucky that you get to go for work! Nice to see you've made friends with some sumos xx
